Project Outline

In our ambient information society, not only can the user access information in a flexible manner, as in the ubiquitous information society, but also the computers in the ambient environment can provide desired information to the user according to his/her given circumstances (i.e., current time, place, and personal preferences). Information systems in such a society, for example, could provide advice or guidance to avoid dangers and hazards. To realize such a society, it is inadequate to simply extend conventional IT, so we need to develop sophisticated breakthrough technologies to tackle the expected technological challenges. This is our central motivation in planning the Global COE Program.
